Chris Lyle, in an earlier posting, found that his sounds were screwed up by the installation of a Mercury 68030 accelerator for his SE. I've got a Radius 16 Accelerator - 68020 CPU w/68881 math coprocess @ 16MHz - and they included two inits to work with the accelerator. one of the inits was specifically devoted to handling the sounds and making sure they were restored to normal play speed after the accelerator sped them up. i would have expected that all accelerators would include such software, but apparently i was wrong. is Radius the norm or the exception for providing such software? Regarding the street price of the SE->SE/30 upgrade, I checked with a local computer store last month and they said it would cost $1295. For the same money you could get a Gemini 68030 w/68882 25MHz accelerator, but you wouldn't get those 4 extra slots for memory. - tom willett gt4586c@prism.gatech.edu -- thomas willett Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 uucp: ...!{allegra,amd,hplabs,ut-ngp}!gatech!prism!gt4586c Internet: gt4586c@prism.gatech.edu

My AOX DoubleTime Accelerator also causes problems with the sound when it runs in high-speed mode ... it's a 16mhz 68000 and what you get sounds like static or distortion. No software was provided to correct this deficiency which is a bummer :-( but I don't use sound programs that much, so I can live with it. > >Regarding the street price of the SE->SE/30 upgrade, I checked with a local >computer store last month and they said it would cost $1295. Also no color quickdraw, ASC sound chip, '030 direct slot, or SWIM chip. It's a tough call - the Gemini would definitely win in the speed category, but the SE/30 is more compatible and it's the wave of the future... I am stuck in the same upgrade dilemma. If Apple would release a 25mhz SE/30i and corresponding upgrade board, my choice would be clear. >-- >thomas willett >Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 -- | And the men who hold | Dan Schwarz, MB 2926 Brandeis U. | RECYCLE YOUR JUNK| | high places/ Must be | I'NET dan@chaos.cs.brandeis.edu |------------------| | the ones to start/ |----------------------------------| tradetapes?mailme| | To mould a new reality/ Closer to the heart ...
