[comp.sys.mac] 105 Mb Hard drive recommendations

bhatlas@pyrite.uucp (Sunil Bhatla) (05/26/90)

Hi all!

I am considering purchasing a 105 Mb external hard drive for my IIx,
and having read Macworld's latest review and surveyed the boards, I am
still uncertain about which one to get.

My criteria are:

Price: less than $800 (but I'm flexible)
Drive: Quantum mechanism preferred
Noise: Needs to be very quiet!
Misc: Must have power supply/fan (no portables!)
Software: Need only decent driver and formatting software
Company: Would like to avoid fly-by-night-operators!

If it's any help, my IIx runs 6.0.4, with 5 Mb ram, 80 Mb internal hard
drive and 1 floppy.

Two that I am considering are Hard Drives Intl and Macland. What do you
think? Please mail replies to me - I'll summarize if there's interest.

Sunil Bhatla, APS in Kansas City,MO has exactly what your looking for.
The current price of the 105mb internal is $595. About $100 more for
an external model. Kit includes cables, brackets, and software.
The drives are 12ms Quantum and they are not a fly by night operation.
APS was recommended by Macintosh Bible.
