Does anyone know if there is a version of NCSA Telnet which supports SLIP connections? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Joerg Messer joerg@bdc.ubc.ca Biosciences Data Centre ...ubc-cs!ubc-bdcvax!joerg 2204 Main Mall University of British Columbia Ph: (604) 228-6527 Vancouver, Canada, V6T 1W5 Fax: (604) 228-2416

One from Cisco, I don't know how to go about getting that version. Another product from us. It isn't the same as NCSA Telnet (which TCP/Connect was) it is called TCP/Connect II, and contains (in its extended version) Telnet (VT241, TN3270, Tek 4014, multiple sessions), FTP client/server, finger, SNMP, SLIP, NNTP reader, Mail SMTP/POP. Uses both MacTCP or our own TCP/IP stack. For more information on this one send me a note with your address and I will mail some information to you. The Cisco version, I would just give the local sales people a call and see if they know how to track it down. Kurt --

It works well but only supports serial line speeds up to 19,200 (38400 gives illegal speed (grrrr)). It did not work with compressed SL/IP (I'd like to find a version that does though). I retrieved this version by mailing to; BITFTP%PUCC.BITNET@uunet.uu.net with this message body FTP ftp.cisco.com BINARY GET telnet.hqx.Z QUIT The file is quite large (241333 bytes) which will increase in size once BITFTP does a uuencode to reship it to you via the above mechanism. NCSA Telnet from cisco is unsupported but free (I hope!!). (I'm using it with a SPARC SunOS4.1 and SL/IP sw retreived from "neat" (details below) I have 2-way ftp (either side may be master) and multiple telnet sessions from mac->unix host running simultaneously). To retrieve the unix SL/IP stuff, mail BITFTP (address above) with the following message body FTP neat.ai.toronto.edu CD pub BINARY GET slipware.tar.Z QUIT slipware.tar.Z is LARGE...758593 bytes BEFORE uuencoded by BITFTP. --alen the Lisa Slayer (trying to turn a SPARC into a Flame) alen%shappy.uucp@crash.cts.com (a mac+ uucp host - what a concept!!) alen@crash.cts.com
