Recently someone here has come to me and asked for the ability
to run ibm-pc software on their mac II. He is convinced that there is a
add-in board that performs this function. Has anybody heard of such a thing
or, even better, bought and used it?

Yes, thers is a boardthe orange micro 286 board, I believe. There is also
a software solution, which most people find workable: SoftPC by Insignia
Solutions (I think). Check any MacUser for both products.
