[comp.sys.mac] Apple finally getting smart??

craparotta@craparotta.enet.dec.com (Joe Craparotta) (06/07/90)

I just saw a quote in this weeks Info World from John Sculley, that me ma
laugh quite loud...

" We clearly underestimated the market importance for new low-end and Laptop
Macs"....

Has this man and his band of merry Marketeers been in a CAVE for the last
2 years or what...... So far everything that they talk about is ALWAYS 12-
15 months away... Time for a change??

What's the big complaint here?

When the consumer demand for low-cost macs gained momentum, Apple lowered
prices on the SE's and Plus's. Of course, then people got the wrong idea, and
started buying LESS Pluses. So now Apple is developing 2-3 low cost Mac models.

But I think it's unreasonable to expect a company to develop a machine that
will please people in only the matter of a few months... a year sounds pretty
normal for development of a new model. I'd say Apple has been responding to
consumers rather well lately... not Great, but well.... more than other
companies...
