On page 19 or the current issue of MacWorld, there's an ad for a box which is a Mac accelerator. It plugs into a NuBus slot, and is said to give you the performance of a 50 MHz 68030 with 64K cache. I'm wondering how this thing operates. Does it have it's own ROM's? Does it download the ROM code from the Mac? I just don't see how they can avoid violating Apple's copyrights and patent on the ROM code, unless Apple gave them a license. BTW, I notice the ad claims "write-through" caching as a trademark. I wonder what it says about the company, that they would make a stupid claim like that.
