[comp.sys.mac] 2 questions

I've 2 questions:

1) What changes have been made to Multifinder 6.0 since 1.0? Is the dras-
tice version number change reflective of vast modifications, or was it
just meant to "catch up" to the version numbers of the System and Finder?

2) I bought a serial switchbox which has 3 mini-DIN 8 female connectors,
labeled A, B, and input-output. All I want to do is share my Imagewriter
II between my Apple //e (equipped with Super Serial Card + cable) and
my Mac II (with cable). Now both of these cables work fine when hooked
up from computer to printer, but when I use the same type of cable to
hook up the switchbox to printer, it doesn't work. Do I need a "straight-
through" Mini-din 8 male to Mini-din 8 cable from switchbox to printer?
It seems like my "normal" computer to printer cables have certain in-
active pins which might be required by the switchbox. Am I right? If so,
where can I get such a cable cheap?

Please reply via e-mail; I just don't have enough time to go thru
the entire newsgroup. Thanks a lot!

Ok gang,

Question #1: I've been hearing a lot of talk about BookEnds software,
but does anyone have a phone number for them?

Question #2: I've also heard that Mac Plus owner should be using
MIDI Manager version 1.1 as opposed to 1.2 (which I have). Does
anyone know where I can get 1.1? Everywhere I have looked I have
found only 1.2.

Your help is very much appreciated!

1) I'm trying to use Unix sockets from a Macintosh
version of ObjectWorks for Smalltalk (running
under Mac OS). ParcPlace doesn't support
sockets for non-Unix platforms. Has anyone
written code that would enable me to do this?

2) I'm looking for a Smalltalk implementation that
runs on a Stardent Titan. Any pointers would
   be appreciated.

Thanks, Larry Bergman
