[comp.sys.mac] trash problems

Hi there. I have been having an odd problem with the trash can on my
Mac SE (1 meg, two internal 3.5, and an external 40 Meg HD). When I
put something in the trashcan, and then eject a disk by dragging it
onto the trashcan - the trashcan empties itself! Now, I noticed that
on a normal Mac SE (1 meg, one 3.5, 20 Meg internal HD), ejecting a
disk does NOT empty the trashcan. So what gives?

The latest version of the Macintosh system (6.0.5) will empty the trash
if the document in the trash can is ON the disk being ejected. If the document
is, for example, on your hard drive, dragging a mounted floppy to the trash
(to eject it) won't empty the trash.
The other possibility is that you're dealing with different versions
of Systems on the two computers. I believe Apple has changed the automatic
emptying of the trash can since System 6.0 came out.
