Here at OSU, we've got a mixed environment of Unix machines (Sun workstations, plus a couple of Pyramids) and Macs. This can lead to people amking somewhat odd requests on occasion. Here's a frequent one: I've got a (picture/graph/image) in (Cricket Graph/MacPaint/MacDraw) and I want to include in (a LaTeX document/some other Unix file). How can I do that? I realize that the image will probably need to be in PostScript. Would it be in encapsulated PS? Something else? Is there some sort of conversion program that can get me to the format I need from (a bitmap image/a PICT image/whatever)? Ideally, I need a program that lets the user take an image such as they might put in the scrapbook (or even simply take an image from the scrapbook) and create a file that would allow the image to be included in Unix docs, particularly LaTeX. Please note: I won't have *any* trouble *getting* the file to the Unix system from the Mac; that's not what my question is about. Any information/assistance would be appreciated. -- R David Francis francis@cis.ohio-state.edu
