[comp.sys.mac] Macintosh Ethernet cards

xdaa374@ut-emx.UUCP (William T. Douglass) (05/04/89)

We are considering ethernet cards from several manufacturers, and I'd
like to get feedback from people who have actually tried the various
brands available now for the Mac. Specifically, what kinds of comparisons
have been done, what brands seem most reliable, fastest through-put,
etc.

This is primarily for Mac II & SE/30 machines, so any info about one type
of card providing better throughput than another would be of great interest.

Also, compatibility of the ethernet drivers is of interest. Any favorites
of horror stories to tell, nows the time. Please mail or post, as you see
fit.

Thx, Bill...

I'm looking for information on ethernet boards for the Macintosh.

Currently we are running SFT NetWare 2.15 rev C over twisted pair (to HP
PC's), LocalTalk to Mac plusses and SE's, and would like to add Macintosh SE,
SE/30's, and Mac II's to the network over UTP ethernet.
If any one has any experience with any cards, or has a recommendation for
a particular card, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Please email to me as I do not subscribe to this group. We just installed
our cc:Mail gateway so mail to jlille@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu (a friend's
account) or to both the above and the address in my signature (cc:mail).

Thanks
