[comp.sys.mac] Problem with BinHex DA v1.0

kriss@AUSTIN.LOCKHEED.COM (R M Kriss) (07/17/90)

Caution to those who downloaded BinHex DA v1.0 from comp.binaries.mac!

The file unBinHexed and unStuffed okay. Something is wrong with the DA!
It would not run on my Mac+ (2.5Megs) running MF. I tried it on a
startup disk w/o MF and it bombed the system.

Sure sounded like a neat DA.

Curiously, it seems to work fine on a IIci.

Likewise on my II. There's another problem, though. Once in a while,
after using it at some earlier point, it will mysteriously reappear.

I had a problem with it too on my Mac Plus with 4 megs. Under MultiFinder it
acted like it was going to open up (went to the DA Handler and all), but it
immediately closed up on me. I tried it under uni-Finder and it bombed with
an error ID 2. Does it work only with the 256k ROMS?

Just out of curiosity, are there any inits or cdevs that it's known to be
incompatible with? I haven't had the time to try and track down whether there
might be a conflict there.

Same thing on my SE under MF, sys 6.0.5. Tried turning all inits off to no
avail.
