Our office is getting a Mac IIci, Color Textronics Printer, and color scanner from MicroTech, and the usual paraphenalia of software such as Photoshop, WordPerfect, Adobe Illustrator, PageMaker 4.0, etc. The issue came up that we want a bigger than 13" monitor. As well, since we will be scanning color photographs for documents and lots of graphics work, the question came up as to whether or not the onboard card would be slow or not. First thoughts were, to go to 16", were to use an NEC 4D MultiSync, capable of Mac's graphics, but local Apple dealers didn't sound too thrilled at the idea. They say the quality is poor. My question to you folks is: Considering what the machine will be used for, can anyone recommend a good card and monitor - a card that can do good quick redraws of images? The scanner and printer are capable of 16.7 million colors, but local dealers think that the diffences are so slight that an 8-bit card with higher resolution and quick redraws is what we're looking for. Something 1024x768 or 800x600 resolution would cut it for us. We're looking in the $1000-2000 range for the card and $2000-2500 for the 16" monitor. I've seen spec sheets for RasterOps and SuperMac. Any suggestions is much appreciated! Stephen Wellings wellings@dalcsug.UUCP 01STEVE@AC.DAL.CA
