Why is the SE/30 clocked 34% slower than the IIci (or why is the IIci 50% faster than the SE/30)? They both have the same 68030, so does it have to do with the bus, or could I throw a 25MHz clock where the 16MHz clock now stands and have it function properly. Also, can a Mac Plus be sped up? On an aside, why did they put color quickdraw in a computer with a monochrome monitor attached? Eric Bennett cerberus@caen.engin.umich.edu

Regarding the SE/30: /* Written 7:27 pm Aug 27, 1990 by cerberus@caen.engin.umich.edu in ux1.cso.uiuc.edu:comp.sys.mac */ >...why did they put color quickdraw in a computer with a monochrome >monitor attached? I would hate to think that the monochrome monitor on an SE/30 is just "attatched" there. It's more of an occupant, like a snail in a shell (not to imply that the SE/30 is slow). If you want to attatch something to an SE/30, why not an external color monitor or a color printer; Color QuickDraw enables it to support a variety of color graphics devices. Hey, how 'bout a Color QuickDraw-based holographic projector (OOPs, those haven't been invented yet). << insert your favorite cliche or philosophy of life here >>. | | |====================| | | | Jason Watts | \ |\ |\ \ | (jazzin@uiuc.edu) | \| \| \|\|====================|
