I finally got my new II si units, with color monitors. They are nice, real slim and sleek, two are sitting quite comfortably on one 36" desk...though two full size extended keyboards are difficuklt to use here. I was delighted to see that they all came with MICROPHONES, and i am able to make my own Sounds instead of Beep, Monkey, etc. in Control Panel Sounds. It takes a sample of 4 seconds. Problem: I tried to copy the new Sound files to the Mac IIfx units but the new sounds did NOT come up under the II fx's :-( . Must be the factthat the IIsi's are with System 6.0.7. Should change the system on the IIfx's also. Also, I am upset by one apparently small point. When I got these units I also changed my II fxs' mono monitors with the new Apple color monitors that go wit the si's. Problem: The power cables on the new monitors are not like the usual replacable ones that can be pulled out from the monitor. Instead they are fixed. AND, bigger problem, they only come with a male plug end to connect to power wall sockets...not to the Mac's power supplies. That now means having to turn On and OFF six extra switched every day :-( A cosmetic issue complaint. The II fxs have TWO grooves running through the front of the units with the LED and disks recessed in one groove, while the other is merely cosmetic, I assume. The II si units just have one groove, so they are just slightly less aesthetically pleasing among the IIfx's than they could have been. Well, that is my opinion only, sorry if this (or these) have already been discussed here. Regards Imran Anwar
