To anyone who can help:
I have "ftp"'ed several networks, (wuarchive, ames.arc.nasa.gov, sumex.stanford
.edu, etc) to name a few, and got gifs to use in X windows on the Sun's at USC.
I downloaded these to my Mac SE, and want to use them. How can I transform the dowloaded files into files that will work on my Mac (as gifs, or preferably MacPaint, Superpaint, StartupScreens) to use with BackDrop DA? I'm sick of the plain checkerboard backgroud.
