Most TrueType fonts you'll find come with a few conventional bitmaps at
the more common point sizes, just like most Postscript fonts come with a few
bitmaps too. The reason is pretty simple: bitmaps display faster than
TrueType or PostScript fonts. Things will work just fine (if slower) if you
remove all the bitmaps and just leave the TrueType font (when you're looking
at things with Font/DA Mover, the TrueType font is the one that doesn't have
a point size number at the end of its name), but unless you're running on a
really fast Mac or you're really short on hard disk space, you'll probably
want to leave the bitmaps of at least the one or two point sizes you use most.
