[comp.sys.mac] SCSI Drives & Drivers

gwowen@gpu.utcs.utoronto.ca (George Owen) (05/06/91)

... I'm currently having difficulties with my GCC Hyperdrive FX-60.
Since GCC wanted a silly amount of money to 'REPLACE' my bad drive
I got an identical drive new for a significantly less amount.
Problem is the GCC formatting software refuses to recognize the
drive. Although I could use other formatting software I was
wondering If anyone had a fix for this problem.

BTW , the drive is a SEGATE 277N ( 60 meg ) which does NOT appear
to have any kind of SPECIAL GCC ROM on it.

Any help would be appreciated and posted ....

          Thanks !

George, the reason why the GCC software cannot recognize the newdrive could be
that the GCC SCSI interface could not be talking to the mechanism correctly.
otherwise, the Seagate 277N perhaps could not talk to the interface card becaus
it could indeed have a ROM embedded in it.
In any case, you probably have nothing to lose by using the new driver software
that you've got with the new drive.
