Here is an interesting comment on the Atari 1040 ST. I, as of now, have not bought one, but am completely sold as to its power. My best friend just bought the 1040 ST at a Computer store in Nashua NH. He was thrilled. The machine had one problem though. After it warmed up, about 45 minutes, it started to make a hum, or buzz from the monitor. Turning the volume down helped, but not for long. The hum got louder and louder. While this is not major, if a person purchased the ST for it's MIDI port, it is a sever bummer. So anyway, her took it back and told the salesman what was wrong. They just gave him an even swap. This one did the same thing. He thought it might be something in the house, so he took it to a friends house it was fine till it warmed up again. This time he brought it back to the store, and the salesman set it up. An hour later the problem appeared again. That is how it stands, my friend is now waiting for the next shipment so he can exchange the ST for a better one. Does anyone know what this problem could be?? It get's real frustrating, and It shakes my faith in Atari. Send replies to: USnail Pete St.Pierre Box 2059 1 University Ave. Lowell, Mass 01854 or rstpierr@ulowell.UUCP
