Beware of desk accessorys which use RCS files! At best the behavior of TOS is unpredictable after using Malloc or loading a RSC file from a desk accessory: example: I have a very nice PD calculator which really works, but it uses a RCS file...this causes every program started to steal memory the first time it is used..if I start UniTerm I loose 38 kB, I can then restart UniTerm without loosing more, but if I start something else...there goes a another few kB of memory...remove the offending desk accessory and every program returns all memory...now don't ask me why this happens............ BTW GDOS is not PD, as far as I know the only legal way of getting it is to buy a program which includes GDOS (typically DEGAS Elite, which is not all too expensive), there were rumours that OUTPUT.PRG is PD in some german mags but about 99% of the information in them is just plain lies. BTW one mag quoted Atari Germany with something like this 'There is no such thing as GDOS and even if there is we are not supporting it!' :-). The director of Atari Germany has also been quoted with 'The developement of TOS is finished!'. I wonder if he ment the developement of the bugs? Simon Poole
