I just called a company in Houston called tech-Specialities that I saw in Computer Shopper. They art offeringing solderless upgrades to 1, 2.5 and 4 meg for the ST as well as another Hard Disk alternative. Here is a brief summary. Hard disk unit-- Seagate ST225 cabinet (space for 2 HDs) 150W power supply (can power 520ST and get rid of cables!) DMA -> SCSI HD Controller (can control 2 HDs) all for $595 This hard disk and cabinet can be used for future expansion of an additional drive in the cabinet as well as DMA -> SCSI capability(don't know if its true SCSI though). In addition, you can power your 520 directly from the cabinet to get rid of another black box and cable. 1, 2.5, 4 Meg Upgrade plugs onto mother board (no soldering required) trade-in deal on 1 Meg board if you want to upgrade to 2.5 or 4 meg (when 1 meg chip prices come down) 1 Meg upgrade is $169 ($84.50 in trade-in on bigger upgrades) Has anyone done any business with this company? How do these things sound? Here's their address and phone. If you call, call between 4 and 7 pm Houston time for a real person. Other times have an answering machine. tech-specialities Co PO Box 73122 Houston, TX 77273 (713)893-9107 I disclaim everything, just interested in any info anyone has. Bart atwell@utah-cs
