[comp.sys.atari.st] DISKTOP 2.0, Any Enhancement Requests?

todd@zeke.UUCP (Todd Burkey) (12/12/86)

[ Ok, Ok, Ok...I promise to have a MONOCHROME version of DISKTOP out soon ]

This is just a request for input about feature enhancements from users of my
DISKTOP program which I posted to CSERVE, GENIE, etc about 5 months ago or
so...I figure I might have time to add some features over Christmas. For
those of you that don't have it, I will be posting DISKTOP 2.0 as soon as I
can figure out how to run the uuencode sw on it (is there a UUENCODE.TTP
around by any chance?). Disktop is a program which allows you to keep track
of what disk a file resides on from a master database, and its primary
features are 1) it is very fast (sorry, no gem scrolling screens), 2) it is
compact (program size is <30K, database of 2000 files on 150 disks is <30K),
3) you can add disks to the database almost as fast as you can stick disks
in your drives (I am lazy), 4) it is simple to use (all commands are single
keystroke or mouse selectable from a always visible menu bar), 5) all it
keeps track of is a 20 charactez disk name and the 11 character file names
on the disk (I always thought having to type a description in for a program
name was a waste of time), and 6) it produces sorted output files of the
database contents (useful for use by clubs). I am willing to hear any
changes people might want to suggest, but I probably will be resistant to any
change that slows the program down...I basically wrote the program to solve
my own problem of having several hundred disks full of public domain STuff
and I find that I use the program almost daily to search out a particular
file or two. Next on my agenda is a THINK TANK-like organizer for my hard
disk's file contents (unless someone else is already started on one).
