i am looking for information from people who have experience with either or both of these two c compilers, megamax and mark williams, for the atari st line. some people may consider this a dead issue - if so, i would be interested in hearing *why* a particular decision was made for one product or the other. some of the pros and cons i have been hearing: MM has problems with i/o redirection, limits on code/data segment size, no linkage with external assembly modules; but fastest compilation and excellent performance of generated binaries. MWC is big, multipass, slower, but good for porting Unix applications, has separate assembler, comes with symbolic debugger and other Unix-like tools. supposedly MWC does not run in the beckemeyer c shell environment - is this true? and is the MWC debugger any good? as for MM, does release 1.1 include any significant new capabilities? does MM have any plans to provide or support a symbolic debugger? if you have specific experience with either of these compilers and wish to either praise or bury them, or if you can compare/contrast the two of them, i'd really like to hear from you. i will happily summarize responses for the further edification of the net as a whole if there is interest, otherwise i can mail summaries to individuals, after the 1st of the year. tom love xerox egp/cad leesburg, va {various sites} !seismo!rochester!rocksanne!xrxns!toml phone (703)777-8000 x5185
