[comp.sys.atari.st] Problem Running Nite/Killer...

Has anyone been able to get Moshe Braner's latest Nite/Killer
program to work correctly? I uudecoded it fine, placed it in an Auto
folder and booted my 1MB 520ST - TOS in ROM... The message comes on the screen
"CRT Protection...Killer Installed.." So far so good, I leave my ST for a
few minutes..and when I came back my mono screen was blank! Wow, great...
Now let's get back to work..I hit a key, nothing....CRT does not come back!!
I have to re-boot..
This is a very handy little utility...Is there a bug in Nite/Killer??
Are other people having the same problem..? I've tried running it by double
clicking on it..same results. It can't be other software causing the problem,
because I'am running it all be itself.
What do you think Moshe..anyone else..?

							Thanks

I have had NITE cause hanging-up when the screen blanks inside SOME programs
(e.g. the RAID debugger). I've heard of that happenning with Modula-2.
If NITE hangs your SW, remove it from your boot disk. I'll try and fix it
one of these days. Any suggestions on the possible source of the problem
are here invited.

BTW: 'RAID' (published by Michtron) is a nice disassembler/miniassembler/
tracer/memory editor etc. I've had a beta copy for a while and I like it.

I just installed it last night and the "night" portion of it works fine
for me but I haven't tried the "killer" portion yet. A friend of mine
tried out the "killer" portion and couldn't get that to work although
the "night" portion works for him as well. You are probably missing a
byte or two somewhere in your copy.

A bug I found in "flexcopy" involves "scache" (I think). When "scache"
(version 3) is installed and I copy from my ramdisk to a floppy, it returns
to the desktop and says that there are 0 bytes used in 0 items until I
pop the disk out and force a re-read. Picky, I know, but I was a little
worried the first time.

Third, Moshe's uudecode.tos will not decode some files that will decode
with an older version I have that takes around 10000 times as long. I
can't find anything in common with the files that won't decode. One
good example is the group of four files that comprised the piano
utility (allowed editing of bits in the sound chip).

Does anybody know what Moshe does for a living? This guy is incredible.
Lately I have been receiving about one useful program per day. Is he
an artificial intelligence project like the old Rich Rosen program? :->

A heartfelt THANK-YOU Moshe, I'm sure, from all of us on the net.
