[comp.sys.atari.st] GfA-Basic

K538915@CZHRZU1A.BITNET (01/22/87)

The GFA-Basic compiler is available in Europe, so you should be able to get
it in the USA soon. Rumour has it that GFA offered the interpreter to Atari
as an replacement for ST Basic, but ATARI didn't want it.

Disclaimer: The last thing I would want to do is to advocate BASIC (ugh!), but
I suppose anything is better than ST-Basic.

i was just over at atari (name dropper (:-) and saw GFA basic in
action, it is MOST impressive, it is structured (if-then-else, while
etc.); has an intellegent editor; VDI bindings builtin; and is fast.
I'm afraid that i have no further info on when it will be in
distribution here (USA) but it looked VERY good.
