Recently, Alan Paeth (awpaeth@watcgl) posted a star charting program to net.sources along with a database of around 9000 stars. I'm porting his program to the ST and have a preliminary version working. I wanted to let everyone know I'm working on it so you can try to dig up a copy of the star catalog or remember not to remove it if you already have it. It's very large and was just posted recently, so I don't plan to post it when I distribute the program. The program currently runs on color systems only and uses shades of gray for stars of different magnitudes. When the display is complete it can be saved in neochrome format. As soon as I clean it up a bit and add a couple more features I'll post it. A separate program is used to calculate planetary positions for use by "starchart". I'll be porting that one next.
