I have been getting more and more caught up in the Net lately, and I think the quality of my postings has gone down as a result. Moreover, it takes so long to get through all the news and mail that I can't get as much real work done as I would like. As such, I am going to take it easy and let the pros (i.e. Neil) do their jobs. If there are issues which call for my attention, I'm sure that Neil will ask me, and I'll be able to respond. But in general I will back down as Atari's unofficial inside source. Please consider this an apology to the people I may have offended or inflamed with my offhand comments. To the rest of you, there are only two things left to say: THE 40-FOLDER LIMIT ISN'T FIXED YET, BUT WATCH THIS SPACE FOR AN INTERIM PATCH WHICH PUSHES IT FURTHER AWAY (like to 300). FOR ALL OTHER PROBLEMS: WE ARE WORKING ON IT. WE CAN'T PREDICT WHEN A NEW GEMDOS MIGHT BE RELEASED, SO DON'T ASK CUSTOMER RELATIONS OR YOUR DEALER. /----------------------------------------------\ | Opinions expressed above do not necessarily | -- Allan Pratt, Atari Corp. | reflect those of Atari Corp. or anyone else. | ...lll-lcc!atari!apratt \----------------------------------------------/

Info from you, Neil, Cary Gee, and Julius Oklamacxkghjk (however you spell it) has succeeded in answering hundreds of questions (well okay, tons and tons) shortly after they are asked, as well as providing interesting conversation to these forums. Well done! As for the imperfect quality of your postings, and any possible offense you may have given, well, that's unavoidable, and certainly no great factor in your prolific correspondence. Thanks, and I hope that someone will fill your place! (Neil's been awful quiet lately...) I guess the problem one faces in your position is, "Well, I can spend 4 hours a day poring over messages on the Net, Compuserve, Genie, etc., etc., or I can get some work done!" -- - Jonathan Fischer (jafischer@watrose) or: watmath!watrose!jafischer or: jafischer%watrose@waterloo.csnet or: jafischer%watrose@waterloo.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa

Was in Vegas for over a week, Chicago for a few days, and am now heading East for a 10-day trip. So by the time I get back here most of the questions have been answered already. You may be interested in knowing that we've just brought on board a new person in the role of Technical Support Manager, whose purpose includes online support here and elsewhere. Those of you on BIX will recognize the name Alex Leavens -- he knows the whole Atari product line, including the 8-bit (and even the 2600). He should be making some online appearances as soon as we get him acclimated. -- --->Neil @ Atari ...{hoptoad, lll-lcc, pyramid, imagen, sun}!atari!neil BIX: neilharris CIS: 70007,1135 Delphi: NEILHARRIS GENIE: nharris WELL: neil Atari Corp.
