[comp.sys.atari.st] PD software disk

gordan@maccs.UUCP (Gordan Palameta) (01/27/87)

This post is to announce an attempt at starting a SnailMail distribution of
public domain ST software. The basic idea is to collect on disk many of the
programs that have been posted on the net in uuencoded form and
make them available at a reasonable cost through the postal system.

A first disk has been made up, containing
ARC (library and compression utility)
ETERNAL (reset-proof RAM disk)
FORMAT3 (custom formatter utility)
GEM Kermit
MONST (monitor, RAM editor, disassembler)
UNITERM (powerful terminal emulator)
UUDECODE (uudecode and uuencode)

Disks will be single-sided, with most of the contents in ARCed form to
save space (except ARC itself). To get this disk, you can send $3
(or $4 Canadian funds) to one of the addresses listed below. This amount
includes the cost of a disk and postage (in North America).

Other disks are being planned, assuming the response is favorable.

Well, I'll be at the address below for at least another couple months,
so anybody in the upper midwest (or elsewhere) should be able to contact
me either there or by using one of my Email addresses.
Incidentally, Antic magazine is selling Public Domain software at
$12 *per* *program*! I haven't checked it all out, but at least some
of the same software (e.g. proff) is slated to be included on future
SnailMail diskettes. What a deal!
