[comp.sys.atari.st] Bix, Emacs3.7, Krabat, Yacc

Pase@DOCKMASTER.ARPA.UUCP (02/12/87)

In answer to a few of the questions posted recently I thought this might
interest some of you. Bix has the following avaliable for downloading:
1) Krabat - the english version fixed by a bix person 2) Emacs3.7 - that
doesn't put on extra crs for each line
(also patched up by a bix person, I think) 3) Yacc - a
version of Yacc for the ST, a port I believe.

I haven't tried any of them out so I don't know if they really solve the
problems as advertised. As for the Yacc, if it is just a port I have
now idea as to its copyright status or PD status.

I am in now way connected with BIX, other than having an account. /bill

I have been using the patched version of MicroEMACS 3.7 and it corrects
the double CR problem as advertised. I we have had reports of the Krabat
with English translation working correctly. I expect the 'yacc' works as
well since it was uploaded, I believe by Jim Kent who is the moderator of
the Atari.st conference.

I should also note that we have a slightly revised version of the
public domain MonST debugger called Monit. The reason for the name change
is out of respect for HiSoft's NON-public domain 'MonST' debugger. We don't
know if the German program was produced before or after the British
program and thus nobody can say for sure whether HiSoft really has the better
right to the name, but I requested the name change on the BIX version because
the author of the German version had less to lose. He wasn't trying to
make money and certainly wasn't paying for advertising, which HiSoft has
to do to put bread on the table. Anyway, Monit has the latest translation
of the instructions (the first translation had some errors) and I think a
couple of patches.

Cheers! -- Jim O.
