[comp.sys.atari.st] ACC and Auto

m204help@cca.UUCP (03/05/87)

Hello out there.....Can someone please tell me about ACC files
and also using the AUTO folder ??
For instance is an ACC file just a program that runs from an AUTO
folder ?
What's the difference between an ACC file and a PRG file (other than
the fact that I can't seem to execute an ACC file from the desktop) ??
Thank you for any comments.....one note to Atari...PLEASE MAKE SOME
DOCUMENTATION AVAILABLE SOON !!!!!!!
p.s. can anyone recommend some good documentation to acquire to answer
(what seem to be) simple questions like the above ???
thanx,
keith

A .ACC file is a program that gets loaded at boot-time by the computer,
and is sort of a 'memory resident mini-multi-tasking program'. The VT-52
emulator that comes with the computer, for example, is a desk acc.
Desk accessories are almost always available to the user (via the menu bar).
Desk Accessories are _not_ runnable from the desktop., nor are they loadable
in the auto folder.

A .PRG is just a program file that is runnable from the desktop.
