I've heard that in the US, if you send your old 520 back with a small sum to
Atari, they'll send you back a new revision board with a modulator (and other
things ?). Is this the case ? If so, is it also the case in the UK ?
I'd love to add a little colour to my life and as I can't afford a
colour monitor just now, the modulator seems the best answer. I know that I
can get an external modulator from independent companies here in the UK but I
seem to have enough wires, power cables etc. tangling themselves together .

It is, in fact, the case. If you send back your old 520 and $95 (US),
we upgrade it to TOS in ROM and an RF modulator. I'm not sure about the
UK, however, if you're really desperate, you can purchase the RF modulator
from your dealer and have him install it.
(If you can't find a dealer in your area who has it, give me a holler,
and I'll figure something out...)
