This is just a suggestion about the 68020 (030) machine Atari is presently designing. I think that an independent, stand-alone 68020 machine should not be ruled out as a possibility by Atari. (This is in addition to the DMA box) It, of course, should be able to DMA with STs. Curtis

[] When the 68020 box will be ready (in about two years, given the current estimates + safety factor) they will wonder why they ever wanted to make it an add-on to an obsolete machine while the 68020 is so cheap (in 1989) and the Fruity III is introducing the 68030... For everybody's sake, hurry up, Atari! The earlier the MegaST actually comes out, the earlier will third-party 68020/68881 or other add-ons appear. That's assuming the MegaST will really have an open CPU bus. My plea to Atari: If you cannot do something yourself, please say so, and then _support_ third parties in doing it! - Moshe Braner
