[comp.sys.atari.st] Working 4 meg ST

atwell@utah-cs.UUCP (03/11/87)

I just talked to a guy from tech-specialties (one of the companies
who sells expandable memory upgrade boards) who said that they had
a working upgrade to 4 megabytes running. I can post their address
and phone if anybody is interested (I left it at home).

If it's an expansion for the 1040, then by all means, POST IT!!

(chanting in background...four-meg, four-meg, four-meg, four-meg, four-meg...)

The address for Tech-Specialties is:

	tech-specialties
	909 Hodgkins
	Houston, TX 77032
	USA

	ph. (713) 590-3738. (call between 4 and 7 p.m. Central Time)

They are selling the 4 meg upgrade for the ST (I believe they have one for
the 1040 as well as the 520). They also have a DMA->SCSI interface.

They seem very eager to get product ideas from customers (would be customers?)
so if you have requests for hardware devices that you think would be
interesting to have, be sure you let them know.

Of course, I have no connection to Tech-specialities except as a customer.

Hi. There is a company in toronto that is selling a 4 meg board for the
520 and 1040. On both it will upgrade your machine to either 2.5 or 4 megs
and is a Plug In board. The company is called Datafree and I can post more
information if anyone is interested.

We're interested! We're interested!

Into what does it plug? I don't recall seeing any socketed chips on my
520. Have you installed this in yours? What about power supply problems?

If you have all the info, how about posting full address, phone, price,
and availability? Thanks from all of us.

DITTO!

There's also a company in the UK who will do that. (Also, 520ST's -> 1meg.)
(And, I have a feeling they'll only do the 4meg upgrade to a 1040.)
I don't offhand have the address -- company is called AS&T and advertises in
all the UK atari magazines. They also do the NEC multisync monitor with
a bit of switching added to toggle the Atatri mono/colour line. And a series
of repackaged 3.5 and 5.25 inch drives with cabling for ST. If anyone
this side of the pond needs the address and can't find it, mail me.

(My only connection with AS&T is that I've fgot a 3.5 inch DSDD drive from
them -- rebadged NEC, it was.)

Forgot my address. In additio to the one you should be able to deduce
from the header, I am, within JANET,

   Smee at UK.AC.AUCC

(I know that's NRS-ordering. If you're in the UK it should be sufficient,
if not you're probably better off with either the Canadian or the German
companies I've seen mentione o n the net (but haven't kept records of).)
