In my searches for newer and bluer mouses (not Big Blue, though), I've come across some interesting stuff. 1) There are now 2 (count 'em, two) trakballs masquerading as mouses for the Mac, one by Kensington and one by Assimilation. They both seem to be decent replacements for the mouse, although I haven't used either for very long. The Kensington one (TURBO MOUSE) was $109 at the Cornell Campus Store (not usually cheap, so the real price is probably lower) and the Assimilation one (MAC TURBO SOMETHING) was $89. 2) I just read an article on the amiga newsgroup about someone having Amiga mouse-compatible trakballs for a mere $19.95. I can get the address easily if anyone (beside me) is interested. 3) There are a number of optical mouses for the clones, usually around $100, from what I can tell. Could these be changed to work on an ST? 4) A new Atari Mouse is something like $40 - $50, I believe, so an alternate control form is not a problem economically. Has anyone heard anything about any of these options for the ST? And as a final and repetitive note, would someone please post a list of runs/doesn't run files for the Sac? I'll summarize anything anyone wants to e-mail me peronally and post to the net. Thanks . . . Adam engst@batcomputer.tn.cornell.edu

I got a flyer this week called the Computer Enthusiast Catalog. In it, they have an ST trakball ("mouse ball" they call it) for $US29.95. The company is: E. Arthur Brown Co. 3404 Pawnee Dr. Alexandria, MN 56308 (612)762-8847, (612)763-6393 phone I don't know anything other than what the ad said (it has two buttons and plugs into the mouse port) and have no affiliation with the company. Dragging with a track ball can be a real trick, for right handed persons. pm@case hacked the mouse ball, so that the X signals become the Y signals, and you can orient the mouse ball by turning it clockwise 90 degress (the buttons are now on the top right. It makes dragging much easier. The jury is still out on if the mouse ball is better than a mouse. I certainly enjoyed using it for the old version of Flight Simulator. Now that the new version of Flight Simulator supports a JoyStick (and runs on monochrome monitors), the self centering feature the JoyStick made be give up using the mouse/mouse-ball for flying. BTW EH Brown sells a 4Meg memory expansion board too. Did anyone try it?? -- usenet: {decvax, cbatt, cbosgd, sun}!cwruecmp!bammi jwahar r. bammi csnet: bammi@case arpa: bammi%case@csnet-relay compuServe: 71515,155
