Hmmm! I thought there wasn't sufficient interest for a GEM metafile to PostScript conversion utility. I asked two times if somebody wants to see such a beast in the net - no response. Maybe the wrong newsgroup. As there were several requests recently, I'll announce it again. Currently, the program I've written runs only on UNIX-machines. It takes GEM metafiles as input and spits out a PostScript File that will print the graphics nicely on an Apple LaserWriter (however, any 300 dpi PostScript engine should do). The metafiles, by now, have to be kermitted from the ST to the UNIX box. A variant of the program converts GEM metafile graphics in such a way, that the PostScript is suitable for embedding in (di)troff-formatted text. The scaling of embedded pictures is arbitrary an can be controlled from the troff source file (no fiddling with picture dimensions!). Unfortunately, only graphics created with GEM-Draw will yield good results. Namely Easydraw does NOT cope properly with my program. I don't know about Easydraw 2.0, maybe they do 'update metafile extents' now. Let me know if you are interested in the program. Provided, there is sufficient interest, I'll post the sources to comp.src.at.st. Axel Mahler, Tech.Univ. Berlin UUCP: axel@coma.uucp (unido!coma!axel) BITNET: axel@db0tui62.bitnet
