[comp.sys.atari.st] TDI Modula-2 v. 3.00 is buggy

silvert@dalcs.UUCP (04/07/87)

I just received the v. 3.00 upgrade from TDI for my Modula-2 developer's
kit and am upset about it. It won't even compile the demo programs
correctly, and several of us are getting persistent
"...reverse address..." error messages and crashes from the linker.

The code in question has generally compiled under v. 2, and you can
generally force it to compile by using the debug option, but this leads
to ridiculously large code. However, it confirms that the programs in
question are OK.

I should add that some changes have been made, usually to track changes
in the standard. For example, CASE BOOLEAN OF for variant records
without the colon is no longer valid.

If users email bug reports to me I will repost them and forward them to
TDI. Also of course, you should be writing TDI directly.

Glad to know i'm not the only one. v.3.00 does produce much smaller .prg
files, once they fix these linker bugs, I'll be very happy. Also, 3.00
rejects <tab> characters as illegal characters. Les Codle (TDI) told me
that that will definitely be fixed, and that a fixed compiler/linker will be
available in a month or so... (judging from his past history, that probably
means 2-3 months...)
