I talked to Supra about problems I'm having with my hard drive yesterday (not the usual crashed directories, but subtle errors like bogus data in files resulting in cherry bombs and TOS 35 errors when running programs off the hard drive that work on the floppy they are copied from). They suggested that "my DMA chip might be one of those bad ones that doesn't have enough drive capability on its outputs". Apparently they are very familiar with this DMA problem and run into it frequently. Since the chip goes for $35-40, I don't want to rush out and buy one (especially since I have no guarantee that the new one won't have the same problem) until I hear from someone else that actually knows about this problem and has resolved it themselves. How about it? Are DMA chips "flakey"? Or is this just another act in the hard disk circus? Terry Zrust ..!ihnp4!drutx!tlz
