I take it that your problem is not one of the usual "circumflex-to-
tilde" or "stripped trailing blanks" ones. I've also had some troubles
with garbled files from CANADA01. (Some of them come through fine,
though.)

After poking around in one of these garbled files for a while, I
noticed that a few of the uuencode characters seemed to be absent.
Specifically, there were no colons : or circumflex characters ~ in the
garbled files. Also, there appeared to be an awful lot of repetitions
of the two-character patterns @D, @B, and @A. To make a long story
short, I discovered that in my garbled files all the colons had somehow
or other been replaced with @D, all the circumflexes with @B, and all
the @ with @A.

Being largely ignorant concerning net matters, I have no idea why this
happens. If this looks like your problem, just try making the
appropriate replacements. (Make sure you replace the @As with @s last,
though; if there are any sequences in the garbled file such as @AD,
then replacing the @As first will result in erroneous replacements when
you get to the @Ds.) When I make these replacements, I get nice, even
uuencoded files that uudecode perfectly.

Hope this helps.
