[comp.sys.atari.st] Atari Corporation Stock Split?

bruce@ektools.UUCP (Bruce D. Nelson ) (05/30/87)

My stockbroker called to tell me that he had a news item from one of his
online services which said that Atari Corporation announced a 2 for 1
stock split. Can anyone (Neil?) confirm or deny?

If you watch computer stocks like me (hey, SOMEONE has to) there has been
a split.

The American Stocks list atari.w and atari.c (I think 'w' and 'c' are right)
Don't ask me what they stand for, all I know is that they exist and the
price is nothing like it was before the split.

Yes, Atari split 2 for 1. But a stock split normally doesn't mean
a whole lot. Trade of the shares normally picks up a little since
the stock now sells for half of what it did before.

(Now, does anyone know when Phantasie III will be released for the
ST?)

What my paper shows is "atari n" (n for new (last 52 weeks)) and "atari wi"
...the key says this is "when issued." Since the price of the "wi" is
about 1/2 the standard price, I think the "wi" is something like future
trading on Atari's split shares. I *think* (don't rely on this)
that shareholders of record on June 2, 1987 will have their stock split
and receive their new shares (i.e. able to trade them) on June 6.

Some stock-exchange maven should be able to clear this up.
