The Okimate 20 goes "Not Ready" when there is about 50 cents worth of ribbon
still on the ribbon cartridge. Theoretically, you can send <ESC>'8' to the
printer to disable the sensor, but this doesn't seem to work. There is also
an internal DIP switch that disables the out-of-paper sensor, and which might
affect the out-of-ribbon one as well. If I do change the switch, the manual
warns that I should not leave the printer unattended. What happens if I
forget? Does the ribbon advance motor get damaged?
Alternatively, where is the %&$#! sensor? If I could find it, I could tape
over it when I want to use a semi-exhausted ribbon.
