CCD have annouced version 2.0 of there ST-Pascal+ compiler (sold in
the US as OSS Personal Pascal). According to the annoucement the whole
code generation has been rewritten and a number of limitations in the
old compiler have been removed:
-size of types & vars only limited by the maximal addressable
amount of memory {at last 1mB arrays :-)}
-no limit on the total size of local variables & parameters
-Long_Integer is allowed as FOR-loop index and in CASE and
variant record statements
-new type Short_Integer (= old integer) {it's not quite
clear which length a Integer type will have in the new
compiler}
-no more temporary files generated by the compiler, which
results in faster compilation
A number of things have been changed in the libraries:
-trigonometric functions have been improved
-PASGEM library supplied by OSS has been extended and improved
{there was no more info than this, since it seems they have
just got the revised version from OSS}
-new low-level library, with block-move and other routines
A new improved shell will also be supplied with the new version,
CCD has annouced that the update will be available in 6-10 weeks
and the update costs will be probably < 50 DM.
