[comp.sys.atari.st] public domain stuff

kchin@BFLY-VAX.BBN.COM (Ken Chin) (06/30/87)

I've finally decided to get serious about my 520ST that has been
sitting around for the last year doing only simple word processing. I'm
interested in doing some midi development on it, but first, I thought I
should get my hands on whatever is available out there in the public domain
(not just midi stuff, but everything including Uniterm).

I've seen postings from people offering to return disks for a
small fee, but, of course, I didn't save them. Could people out there
let me know what's available as well as all the necessary information
surrounding them (such as addresses, instructions, and costs)? If there
is enough interest, I'll summarize to this newsgroup.

Thanks,
Ken Chin

I tried a shareware midi sequencer by a guy in Canada (whose name escapes
me obviously) and couldn't get it to go at all. (equipment: Roland GM70
midi controller and a Yamaha FB01 voice module.) Lots of stuck notes and
bleeps and blunders. So last night I plunked down $33 for Dr. T's EL
Cheapo Sequencer (or ECS, not its real name) and had a crude two-track
sequence going about 1/2 hour after I got home. So I take back everything
I thought about Dr. T. Of course, I haven't had a chance to really grind
on it yet...

I believe there's a sequencer on the first Start magazine disk (the mag's
sold out, but the disk is still available from The Catalog). That could
be a good start.
