Well, some of us have noticed recently that there really isn't any arpanet archive for atari software since the partial demise of the score-atari relationship. Anyway, we have some spare megabytes and are planning to be the arpanet side of the program archive for atari8 and atari16. Here's where you arpanet people get to vote... There are a few questions that should be proposed to public debate: First and most important: Storage. FTP can do binary file transfers. This means that uuencoded mail type messages aren't needed once the data arrive (data happens to be a plural noun) at my computer. The question is: Should I uudecode all the stuff that comes in and store it as binary archive files? Are there people who wouldn't be able to access the files if I did? Please, if you are on the arpanet and plan to be fetching any software via FTP, let me (and the group) know. This is something that must be hammered out before we have megabytes of data stored. Thanks, rodney

The space savings and reduced transfer time should make it worthwhile. My vote - binary. Also, allow me to thank you for you offer! I am one of those on ARPA who has been hungering after the archives over in inaccessible-land... _john -- John T.
