According to the people on the Jefferson Modula-2 board, @ 602/258-7205, their beta release V0.1 is beating TDI modula in benchmark tests. This only with JS' beta version, there is still work going on to polish the product. Their board (STadel) sports utilities and updates to download, some of which, users have contributed. JS Modula-2, a 3rd generation Modula in the fact that there is no exporting, is from what I've been hearing the best example of power without the price in the realm of languages. Jefferson Software is working on a deal to make it an offical Atari Product. That would make things more convenient for us and more financially stable for JS. Right now the version they have sells for $39.95 and is literally packed(ARC'ed) full of utilities and demos to allow you to make run time programs on the spot. Even with a 520ST with SS drive. It's a good system, one I believe in and will be buying very soon. ST Aplications reviewed it, with the only notable complaint being that the documantation was only good to the specifics of JS Modula-2. More extensive docs are coming with the final version. People are encouraged to go out and find Modula books and books on GEM instead of relying on the company to write referance and learning material on those subjects. Call their board if you can, 602/258-7205, and find out what the latest speed and effeciency breakthroughs are.
