In a report on the Hannover Messe, I wrote that some German company has ported SmallTalk to a Mega-ST 4. A couple of days ago I discovered the GEORG@UNIDO is described to be one of the people involved with the porting. I didn't succeed in verifying this address (both UUCP and BITNET), but people tell my it is correct.

There is a smalltalk for the ST which is PD, or at least free. It is a port of the Unix version which is described in the book "A Little Smalltalk" and runs on both the Amiga and the ST. The person who gave me a copy claimed to have gotten it from Compuserve. I've not actually tired it except to see that it runs. Little Smalltalk is a version of smalltalk designed to run on dumb terminals attached to a unix system. It has none of the graphics, windows, or mouse interface, but is a resonably complete version of the programming language part of the system only. Anyhow, it might be of interest to those who can't wait for more complete version of the smalltalk environment. Otherwise you could get a PC clone and run Smalltalk V of which I've never heard anything bad get a PC clone and run Smalltalk V of which I've never heard anythingbad get a PC clone and run Smalltalk V of which I've never heard anythingbad get a PC clone and run Smalltalk V of which I've never heard anything bad. /bill

Tim Budd is the author of "A Little Smalltalk" and the program. I spoke with him a few days ago and he says that before the he goes back home he will have a new version that is smaller and will have a few added features. It will not have a pretty graphics enviornment. When he finishes it I will see if I can put it up on the ST. Michael DeCorte mrd@clutx.clarkson.edu p.s. I will also at that time get Isetl up on the st. Also I will look to see if scheme is possible. p.p.s. Is anyone interesed in the information receintly released on minix for the ST?
