I went ahead and bought a copy of pc-ditto and found the answer to the dos question in the readme file. Turns out it will use either compaq or ibm ms-dos -AND- can boot off dos 2.x if it is on a SS 3.5" disk. Since I happen to have an ancient copy of ms-dos 2.x from an ancient pc incompatible I've got in the closet, I used that (had a friend format my disk on a PC and transfer the system). Everything works. Now I can run my few PC programs without having to crank up the Compaq at work with its grossly deformed keyboard. They are a bit slow but they get the job done. I hope Atari will COMPLETELY FORGET about all projects in the 80xx world and concentrate on the 680x0 world. The pc clone world has gotten so confused in the last six months with all the compatibility questions raised by the 80386 and ps/2 and os/2 and dos 3 and windows and presentation manager etc etc that no vendor (or user) in its right mind would get involved with that mess. I'm glad that I've no longer got any good reason to get slimed in the pc world thanks to pc-ditto... Don FXDDR@ALASKA.BITNET
