[comp.sys.atari.st] Supra 20meg HD Quirks:

csrobe@ICASE.ARPA (Charles S. Roberson) (08/19/87)

Some of you might remember that about a month ago i mildly flamed
on Supra about my HD flaking out and their apparent lack of concern.

Well, i wish to eat my words!

On a second call, the "Customer Support" guy was much more helpful,
and gave me some suggestions and hints. (he did deny that it was
a heat problem, contrary to what several NETers, ACA, and I thought).
Anyway, i ran some tests, took it to Applied Computer Associates,
and they confirmed my problems and sent it back. The quirks had
shown themselves in the last week of my warranty, but i couldn't get
my HD to Supra until about 3 weeks later. I was worried that I would
get sunk for another chunk of money. ;-(

No Way! Supra replaced my whole disk within 3 weeks (ground shipping)
and all i had to pay for was $10 initial shipping charges!

I want to thank Supra and ACA for going that extra inch that makes
the a customer feel appreciated. Let's hope this is contagious!

I hope people don't mind my patting these companies on the back. I
just felt that with all the flaming going on (myself included) that
an opportunity to bring the tempature down would be justified.
Besides, some people/companies learn by example.

Now that the thermastat has been adjusted, i'll shut up.

Supra Hard Disks are I guess grate. But do avoid their modems. I bought
one of their 1200 baud modems and it blew up when I fell asleep online!!!
One of the stupid chips blew out, about ONE week after warranty!!!!!
