A few weeks ago I was looking for a good VT100 emulator for the ST. The responses unanimously favored UniTerm (by: Simon Poole). Summary: 1. It is distributed free of charge (it is PD). 2. Emulates VT100, VT102, and VT220. At least is one of the most complete VT100 emulators available. 3. Emulates a Tektronics 4014 graphics terminal in vector mode: a. I tested it and works pretty fine with graphics. b. Nonetheless, the zoom mode (for augmenting portions of the graphics) works rather slowly. It can be optimized a lot more (probably the decoding and displaying routines needs more speed). c. Provide GIN mode emulation (for setting the cursor with the mouse and transmit the cursor position to the Host). 4. Provide Kermit, XModem, and YModem file transfer protocols. Plus the usual file capture/playback for ASCII text. 5. User is able to switch between VTxxx and Tek4014 emulation. Can be switched from Host with control characters. 6. Support several screen heights and widths. 7. Mouse can be used in VI (by clicking first) to positionate the cursor to a desired location on the text. 8. User may edit the ST function keys. 9. It contains a single line buffer editor for recalling the most recent 20 lines typed, usefull for reentering the same command with different argument. 10. Provide a simple macro proccessor that can be initiated through function keys or disk files. Frankie Sierra sierra@lll-tis.arpa
