In all fairness to Atari, John Buchanan should state whether or not the 80386 system prices he mentioned include a monitor or not, and also how much memory is included. I suspect the system price is going to be more like $3000 and up when you configure it for actual use. Nevertheless, it is true that 32-bit systems are coming down in price. Atari would do well to hit the market running, with a 68020-based product, very soon and in if possible in the under-$2K price range, if they want to hang onto the performance:price ratio leadership position that they established with the 520ST and 1040ST. -John Sangster / jhs@mitre-bedford.arpa
