Yes, I have the same problems, and so do all the people who bought ST-TeX
from Tools. I called up these guys, and they told me they'd have a new
release fixing the bugs "within two weeks". I waited two months, and nothing
came in the mail. I then wrote them a letter, and didn't get an answer.
I came to the conclusion these people are not pros, and that my money
is wasted. As it is, ST-TeX is barely usable, if at all.

I heard somebody else in Germany is selling a version of TeX for the ST.
Anybody tried it ?

Didier.

There is another version of TeX for the Atari ST, It is called CTeX
(Yes the true CTeX - not Common TeX). CTeX and CommonTeX run on the Atari
ST under the OS-9/68000 operating system with no known bugs or problems.
These versions support path lists and all the functions found
on a Unix TeX system.

I'm confused, i have a copy of the sources to a TeX processor called CTeX,
it is part of the GNU distribution and is freeware, if there is enough
interest i'll be more than happy to post (or email) the sources, but
i fear that i just don't have enough time to port them myself.

The CTeX sources and binary files are not in the public domain.
The so called CTeX freeware that come with the GNU distribution is most
likely some version of COMMON TEX !!!

If you are confused, check the copyright messages in the body of any of
the ".c" or ".h" files and search for name "Tomas Rokicki".
If you find this name in your sources, you most likely got an ILLEGITIMATE
	copy of CTeX !!!

			DESTROY IT !!!

Howdy, Avy!

Uh, just to clear some things up. On the standard Unix
distribution tape, there is a directory of *tools* called ctex, which is
not a TeX in C. If you did get a copy of my code, and suspect that you
didn't pay for it, just call me, don't destroy it. You might have paid
for it (we do license it to some other folks) or, if not, the terms are
quite reasonable. I can be reached at (415) 326-5312.

Avy, I've managed to misplace your number, so you might give me
a call. Believe me, I'm much more interested in getting people to use
the code than I am in making money off it, but putting a piece of
software in the public domain is one of the best ways to kill it off.

Anyway, keep on hacking; I haven't had much of a chance to
post to this group, as I tend to be an Amiga person, but happy hacking
anyway! It's great what people can do with these microcomputers, ain't
it?
