[net.wanted] Phone Answering Machines -- Advice wanted

eric@plus5.UUCP (Eric W. Kiebler) (08/03/85)

I am beginning to get ready to think about starting to look at telephone
answering machines again. I tried it once, but there are so damn many of
them and salespeople lie so much that I can't seem to find the Real Secret
Truth anywhere.

I would like a machine that does *lots* of things -- the home pbx that
Brian Redman talked about at USENIX would be swell -- and am willing to
pay a few dollars to get it. I have seen voice recognition units that do away
with the remote beeper thingy, and microcassette vs macrocassette, and
three cassette versions and models that let Special People get messages
from you instead and I just don't have the time to research hell out of this.

So, if anyone has pointers to accurate reviews and/or personal experiences
they would like to share then please mail me. I won't summarize, I promise,
but I will send you what I find out if you wait about two weeks and then
ask me when I have the answers (Know Thyself.)

Cheers,
eric
